storms over portland bill.jpg

With the bad weather of late took a trip down to Portland Bill Dorset.

The wind was blowing gale force eight and the sea was being whip up to great hights.

This was taken while shelttering behind the big stone at the end of the Bill.

Wonderful shot, Pedroeric.

If it was mine [I wish] then I might have been tempted to crop off about half of the sky to let the sea have more space to express its turmoil...of course that would probably ruin the whole thing...
Pedroeric: Thanks Ray tried your idea but I think it doesn't look so good in a portrait style.
I LOVE this!!! Personally I like all that sky - and that the sea and sky are virtually the same color!
Pedroeric: Thanks Elizabeth not a good day for photography that day grey all around.

It is very strange, but I have been wondering what it has been like over Portland Bill this week - and then you provide us with a stunning picture - thank-you, pedroeric
Pedroeric: Thanks Lisl first time I have been back down there in a storm since moving back to Trowbridge.
Fantastic Peter, this is a wild area in the finest of weather - a great idea! smile
Pedroeric: Thanks Martin you know a bit about the weather down there.
A terrific atmospheric picture Peter!
Pedroeric: Thanks Richard the place to be for rough sea's you should see it in a force twelve.
That's definitely what is meant by "storm-tossed"

Oh fabulous! I tried to set a stormy sea earlier this year but despite a high wind, the water in a bath tub seemed choppier.
Pedroeric: Thanks Alan think your bath tub is a lot safer.
I have visited; but a friend at work does a lot of sailing and talks of the conflicting currents!
Pedroeric: Thanks Martin seven currants meet there, they really whip up the sea.
Striking picture. I agree with Ray. Leave it in landscape and chop a bit off the sky.
Pedroeric: Thanks Graeme like it as it is.
